| After spending a rather chilly night Cheri dropped me off at a trail head to do some trail running. | While Cheri was freezing, I did some stretches before entering the trail. (1) |
| About a mile into the trail, I ran across an old home place. Some of Cheri's kin had owned the farm that was later converted into the park, and I surmised that this might have been where they lived. I poached a daffodil to plant at the farm as a remembrance of this site.(3) |
| The Lake Dunn Trail intersected the Military Road Trail. The Military Road was completed in 1829 and provided the first improved travel route between Memphis and Little Rock. One can almost feel an historic presence on this section of the trail and can visualize travelers on horses and covered wagons bouncing by as I run along beside them. (5) |
| After about six miles of scenic trail, I emerged at Lake Austell and awaited a pick-up by the four year old. |
