SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA |
| Our plan on the last day of Highway 1 along the Pacific coast is to continue on the road to San Francisco. A wrong turn along the way, however, brought us to Cloverdale, California. It was Friday, and we ended up at a crowded and real remote KOA Kampground. We bagged a few rocks in a local creek before settling in for the night. The next day, after mailing almost 400 pounds of our collected rocks back home from Santa Rosa, we pulled into a campground in Sausalito. They were full up as were all other campgrounds near San Francisco, but after some earnest pleading we ended up spending the night... in their dump station with the next at a real plug-in site. In the afternoon, we ventured out to the Golden Gate Recreation Area and caught our last glimpse of the pounding waves of the Pacific Ocean. |

On Sunday morning when the traffic was the lightest for the four year old, we ventured forth into the big city of San Francisco. Out first stop was the Wharf. |

The absolute highlight of the Wharf was at Pier 39 where we were entranced by the sea lion show-off's, crowding onto man-made islands along side the pier. |

| Cars were also everywhere... but alas... there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and we were overwhelmed by the sight of the Golden Gate Bridge. |

| We tried to get pictures of the famous bridge from many vantage points. |

From the same vantage points we were greeted with the beautiful skyline of San Francisco. |

| The tower at Knob Hill rises above us, and as we drive through the streets of San Francisco, the four year old took pictures of the surroundings while the eight year old stayed semi lost most of the time. |
