CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO |

| We finally made it to Central City where we stayed at a KOA Kampground about six miles from the city. We toured the city and participated in the games of the casinos without much success. Rock hunting in the area was also difficult, so we decided to head eastward where we spent the night at Castle Rock, Colorado. |

| From Castle Rock, we drove about 60 miles to a good rock hunting area that included about 30 miles of bumpy gravel roads way back in the mountains in Pike National Forest. We were able to find some interesting crystal from an abandoned mine. |

| We left Castle Rock, Colorado about 8:00 PM on Sunday night and drove for 23 hours, arriving at Massac State Park in Metropolis, Illinois, across the river from Kentucky. Being mere shadows of ourselves after two months on the road, we decided to top off our extensive travels with a mushroom hunt... and we found a big one. Knowing we couldn't top this adventure... we just headed home |
