We decide to visit "Land Between The Lakes" national park.   wpeA12.jpg (7194 bytes) wpe9FB.jpg (1579 bytes) wpe9AA.jpg (4814 bytes)
wpeA1C.jpg (11125 bytes) It is situated between the Cumberland River (Lake Barkley) and the Tennessee River (Kentucky Lake)

wpe9E8.jpg (11788 bytes) wpe9E5.jpg (8849 bytes) We stay in the section of the park called Piney Cove.  We park where a cove comes in between two parks.  This is a beautiful area.  There are coves everywhere.

We go and eat a luncheon buffet at a hotel in the Paris Landing State Park a few miles away.  It has glass windows that provide a view of  Kentucky Lake.  We go back to our campsite to hunt shells and hopefully catch fish.  Paul catches the first fish.

I was quite surprised.  I always catch the first fish.  Of course he always finds the biggest crystal too.  I guess I have finally met my match.  I don't know if that is good or not.  It means that there are two strange, eccentric people running loose on this earth.

I watch a man and his large black dog in a boat.  The man is diving for muscles with hookah gear.  Hookah diving is when there is a motor in the boat that sounds like a lawn mower.  It feeds the diver air instead of using an air tank.  The dog barks with excitement when the man goes under water.  The dog is quiet and watches the spot where his master disappeared until he surfaces again.  It warms my heart to watch the devotion animals have for their owners.

We fish a little longer and I catch a fish even though no picture is taken of mine.  That is because it took ten people to help land it.  This is the BIGGEST fish that has ever been caught in the whole wide world.  I didn't want to keep it because of its size so I return it to the water.

wpe9E3.jpg (4572 bytes) I stand at the entrance to the cove and watch two Canadian Geese come in for a landing on the water.  There are two older gentlemen camping next to us.  One of the men is making goose calls.  Sure enough, the two geese in the water start to swim up to them.  They get out of the water and walk up the bank.  It is amazing.
Sir Knight decides to go for a run.  He asks me to watch his fishing pole.  I catch two turtles while he is gone.  We now have new fishing rules.  No turtle catching while others are watching your pole. wpe9E1.jpg (5851 bytes) wpe9D7.jpg (3881 bytes)
After the run, Sir Knight decides to take a swim in C-O-L-D water

The Walker Stalker captured me and we start to take a walk but a big wind comes along with rain and saves me.  I think a tornado is coming to visit.  It is so wild.  Mr. Stalker assures me that there is no tornado so we sit in the wind and rain while I hide under Sir Knight's wing.
I wake up at 5:00AM.  Sir Knight has already gone for his run.  I make my coffee and go outside.  The picnic table is made of concrete and the seats are high enough that my feet dangle and don't touch the ground.  So I pull up the wooded curb, sit down and use a tree stump for my coffee table.

I look out over the lake.  We are on the corner of an inlet to a cove.  The sky is a mist gray.  It's going to rain today.  There is a chop on the water.  It looks like we are at the ocean.  The birds are singing such a beautiful variety of songs.  The spring foliage is a pleasing light green; soft to the eyes.  I remember why I moved to Tennessee.  It is one of the most beautiful states I have ever seen.

Sir Knight is back resting in the RV.  I hear a noise and look at the river.  Now, keep in mind that I am not stupid and that I am from Miami.   What I see is a huge, long, black, sea serpent that has a roar like a motor sound.  It also has a big glowing eye in the front of its head.  I was so excited that I called it a "Snerpent".

land_b1.jpg (3189 bytes) I make a dash to the RV and wake up Sir Knight.  I ask him to come out and tell me what this thing is.  He starts laughing and tells me it's a barge, probably going to New Orleans.  When I focus on it, I can see the five separate parts.  There is a tug boat behind pushing the barges up the river.  Then I get a lesson on how they go down the river.
Guess who happened by this morning?  Mr. & Mrs. C. Goose with their seven offspring.  They are so cute.  I'll bet they are not older than a week and they have the cutest brown eyes.  The proud parents take them to the river for a swimming lesson after Paul feeds them crackers.  wpeA03.jpg (4173 bytes) wpeA04.jpg (6897 bytes) wpeA05.jpg (6801 bytes)
wpe9FC.jpg (8228 bytes) wpeA13.jpg (3185 bytes) It starts raining.  We put rain gear on and begin to fish.  The rain is light with heavy drops.  I watch circling puddles in the lake and listen to them plop in the water.  I look at us fishing in the rain and now know what happens when there is no adult supervision.  I take a little nap after not catching any fish.
Sir Knight goes on a rock hunt.  He brings back a lot of beautiful red rocks.  wpe9D6.jpg (6732 bytes) wpe9EA.jpg (8389 bytes) wpeA0B.jpg (8312 bytes) Then we go on a nature walk.
wpeA0D.jpg (6363 bytes) wpeA1A.jpg (5465 bytes) wpe9B1.jpg (5683 bytes) wpeA2E.jpg (9906 bytes) wpeA21.jpg (11930 bytes) wpeA2C.jpg (7940 bytes)
We see an array of litter critters and pretty flowers.  We take a rest on a bench next to a beaver home and can hear the beaver pups through the wooded roof.  wpe9E1.jpg (10549 bytes) wpeA16.jpg (6205 bytes)
A nature walk feeds all of the human senses positive energy.  You can't lose anything when you go on one, so take some time and take a hike.  You can take one in your own yard.  We prepare to head back to BFC.  We sit for awhile taking in the beauty and then we leave.  Don't forget... go on a nature walk.  It can be ten yards or one foot.  Just look around.  You will be surprised at what you see.
