COTTONPORT, LOUISIANA

THE HISTORIC OAKS OF COTTONPORT
The history of Cottonport began about 1823 when Joseph Ducote II married Marguerite Bordelon.  On the bank of Bayou Rouge he cleared a cane brake, built a house, and planted these oak trees.  About 1835 he donated some of his property for a road and a one room school house.  This is considered the first planning effort for the town of Cottonport.

THE CRAWFISH CAPER

While wandering around the historic town of Cottonport, I ran across one of the principles of J Bernard Seafood who invited me to take pictures of the processing of one of the primary delicacy foods in Louisiana... boiled crawfish.  All the people that I met at the plant were delightful in spite of our communications difficulties... Cajun tongue vs. Southern slur.
