CHARLES LINDBERGH LANDING SITE
On May 18, 1923, Lindbergh landed his "Jenny" northeast of here and damaged the propeller.   He waited in Maben for a new one, then spent several days selling excursion rides at five dollars each to defray his expenses.
7'06 note from T Harpole: I have been on this page many times, and it is really a good job done putting it together. My father was a young boy when Lindbergh landed near Maben. The house where he stayed is still here. I have relatives who live in it. My Mother was  secretary -treasurer of Maben Area Chamber of Commerce, when the plaque was placed at the Lindbergh landing site. At  the time Mrs. Lindbergh was living, and Mother wrote her a letter telling her what was going on. Mrs. Lindbergh wrote her a hand written letter expressing thanks, and wished she were physically able to attend. She must have been a very personal lady. I enjoyed the website.  Thanks,
Thank you Terry!
