Our next night was spent in Fairmont, Montana.  During the day the temperature was hot as you know what.  In late afternoon, we headed for the hills and found a few rocks in a creek, and the clouds formed a cat's paw in the sky.

Gold had been mined in the area and vast quantities of rocks had been dredged from the creek, but we didn't find any decent rocks.  We were instead treated with a series of intricate beaver dams... complete with beavers.  It's amazing how much effort goes into their dam building feats.

On July 31, 2000 just west of Missoula, Montana on Highway 93, the RV speedometer turned over 100,000 miles.
