I observed a couple of sea lions in the ocean near the end of the jetty... along with some birds that were hanging out.

One of our rock books pointed out an agate collecting area on the north side of Rouge River entrance. We spent several hours at this site collecting rocks and freezing our you-know-what's off in the cold wind from the ocean.

GOLD BEACH CAT HOUSES
On our way out to the rock collecting beach, we passed by Gold Beach's "cat houses"... not establishments of ill repute... really cat houses! Some one had built houses and formed a row along the river bank. Every night food was left for the animals... including a rambunctious raccoon. We also caught a couple of wild flower shots at the beach.

UP THE ROUGE RIVER... WITHOUT A PADDLE
The next day, I took an adventure trip into the interior along the Rouge River. I caught some pictures of white water being traversed by a jet boat along with trees, mountains, and a lonely eagle's nest.
