| The city of Andersonville was
formerly Walace's Cross Roads The name was changed on November 7, 1888 One of the first settlers was John Gibbs Other early settlers were Garden, Clear, Hart, McAdoo, Ross, Rutherford, Sharp, Slover, Wallace, Weaver, and Whitson The Andersonville Institute, sponsored by the Baptist Church,, a private academy was established in 1897 The first post office was established on February 23, 1849 William Wallace was the first postmaster and served 38 years |
