| Monument to Bishop Robert Paine | Born Person Councy, NC on November 12, 1799 Bishop Paines father, James Paine moved to Giles County, 1814 Settled ten miles southeast of Pulaski Paine was converted at a camp meeting at Mount Pisgah on October 9, 1917 He was licensed to preach at Rehoboth (Cross Water) January 1818 Elected as a delegate to the General Conference of 1844 Elected a Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South in 1846 Died and was buried in Aberdeen MS, 1882 |

| Sam Davis | Was a young Confederate soldier from Smyrna, TN He was serving as a scout under a Capt Coleman, alias Dr H B Shaw Davis had gathered information about Union troop movements He spent night at Campbellsville on November 19, 1863 The next day he was about 15 miles south of Pulaski on Lambs Ferry Rd, below Minor Hill Two Union soldiers captured Davis He was imprisoned in a jail on the northwest corner of the Square The location was where todays Hunter-Smith Furniture store is located The jail was later burned He was tried and sentenced to hang Davis was hanged on a hill in east Pulaski on November 27, 1863 Four sites in Giles County honor Sam Davis A monument was erected at the site of his capture by citizens of Minor Hill in 1926 A second monument placed at the site of his hanging A museum was built at this site in 1950 The third site is the location of the resting place of Davis body at Maplewood Cemetery His remains were later moved to his home in Smyrna A fourth site is a Statue of Sam Davis on Pulaskis Square |
