Stafford County, VA Began work as surveyor 1770 Married Sarah Michie 1773 Smith given land grant for surveying boundaries in mid Tennessee 3140 acres in original plantation Now composed of 18 acres with house, smokehouse & Cemetery First rock house built in Tennessee. Construction begun 1784 Indian attacks delayed completion until 1791 House has four rooms downstairs and 3 rooks upstairs Admission charged
