BENTON COUNTY |
4-16-98 |
This county has been mapped with
a bicycle rider as its focus. Wide shoulders on the roadway means precious
separation between the bicycle riders and and their nemesis... the dreaded
car or truck. An interesting abandoned rail roadbed in the north west end
of the county is documented and mapped. |
|
CANNON COUNTY |
11-24-96 |
Three separate "scenic trails"
have been found that should be a nice diversion to some of the ho-hum paved
trails. |
|
WOODBURY |
11-24-96 |

CHEATHAM COUNTY |
9-15-98 |
This county has been mapped with
a bicycle rider as its focus. Wide shoulders on the roadway means precious

the effort |
|
CUMBERLAND COUNTY |
1997 |
Seven great, but some very
challenging bicycle trails are described with directions requiring a good
back country map to follow. Because these trails are actually lightly used
roads, caution is the by-word. These are grown-up challenges, so better
leave the little tykes at home this time. |
|
DAVIDSON COUNTY |
|
It has become a quest and a
challenge by Nostalgiaville's Chief Explorer to document some of the many
great bicycle trails in Davidson County. The Greenway system, some finished
and some under construction and in planning stages, is a great boon to
Nashville's future as a great place to live and raise a family. |
| ADELPHIA WATERFRONT TRAIL |
5-26-06 |
This trail around Adelphia
Stadium is referred to as the "miracle mile". Part of it fronts on the
Cumberland River with the expansive skyline of Nashville glued like a
backdrop to the opposite bank of the river. |
| BORDEAUX AREA |
1999 |
From the Bordeaux area, Old
Hickory Boulevard dead ends into the Cumberland River. Traffic is light,
but the hills are challenging. A "Rails-to-Trails" Greenway is possible on
an abandoned rail bed. Anyone looking for a project? |
|
DOWNTOWN GREENWAY |
6-17-06 |
The Downtown Greenway, the
"Miracle Mile", is the link between East and West... the
Eastern side of the Cumberland River with the fantastic Shelby Bottoms
Greenway System and the Western side with an equally impressive Riverfront
Greenway Complex. Many interesting views of the inner city beg your
presence on your trusty old bicycle. |
| RIVERFRONT
GREENWAY |
6-17-06 |
This greenway trail is a short
segment in a growing network of multiuse trails and linear parks
throughout the city. This segment, the Riverfront Greenway, is
unique in its historical context and urban character. From this
location near the Tennessee Bicentennial Mall, the Downtown Connector
leads eastward, roughly along the historic path of the now-diverted French
Lick Creek, to the west bank of the Cumberland. |

A scenic ride awaits on
Wilkerson Road in the Joelton Area. |

Nashville. The trail is flat, scenic, paved and fun for the whole family. |
|
SHELBY PARK CONNECTOR TRAIL |
5-28-06 |
This trail carries you through a
scenic and tranquil Shelby Park along the Cumberland River, dumps you on an
open road with an adequate bicycle lane and carries you to the Adelphia
Waterfront Trail which connects to several other interesting choices that
your bicycle will love. |
| STONES RIVER GREENWAY |
7-22-06 |
Three miles of Nature's
best... provides a good description of the Stones River Greenway. The
start of the adventure is at the Percy Priest Dam Trailhead, and the end is
at the Lebanon Road Terminus. Eventually, this trail will connect with
the Shelby Bottoms Greenway via a pedestrian bridge across the Cumberland
River. |
|
DICKSON COUNTY |
8-99 |
Seven open road trails are noted
in Dickson County and in the City of Dickson. Watch out for the cars. |
|
FENTRESS COUNTY |
1997 |
Once you try these two trails...
you will most assuredly vow to never, ever do them again. The scenery is
pronounced... the hills on gravel roads near impossible. If you ever wanted
a bicycling challenge... this is it. After you try these trails, E-mail us
(snicker) and give us your opinion. |
|
FRANKLIN COUNTY |
|
|
|
COWAN |
1997 |
This ten mile trail on an
abandoned rail bed starts at Cowan and ends near Sewanee. It is a
combination bicycle and ATV trail and can be a bit rough in places. Not for
the faint hearted. |
|
HAMILTON COUNTY |
|
|
|
RIVERPARK GREENWAY |
6-06-06 |
Hop on the old
bicycle for 8 miles of "super trail". We start near the aquarium on the

are a couple of testy hills, but most of the trail is relatively flat with
many spectacular views of the Tennessee River. |
|
JACKSON COUNTY |
1997 |
Here are some real challenges
for the macho kamikaze bicycle rider. Three separate road trails with an
