HISTORY of CROSSVILLE
| 1800 | Area called Lambeth’s Crossroads |
| 1830 | Deed conveying 640 acres |
| 1836 | Established under name Crossville |
| 1843 | Name changed to Rail Road Plains |
| 1844 | Changed back to Crossville |
| 1856 | James Scott deeded 40 acres to establish town |
| 1865 | Bud England's store |
| 1868 | Three saloons and a one-room school house in town |
| 1873 | Two stores, a hotel, post office, a wagon shop, and 75 people in town |
| 1878 | Dr Tomas Snodgrass from Sparta, first doctor |
| 1880 | First town census found 99 people |
| 1888 | First school started in the Congregational Church |
| 1896 | Fire wiped out many Main Street buildings |
| 1900 | Tennessee Central Railroad began operations. Box car served as depot |
| 1900 | Town incorporated |
| 1908 | Cumberland County High School organized |
| 1912 | First car was spotted in area |
| 1920 | First movies shown in Cline Opera House |
| 1925 | Population of city 1200 |
