We had our sights set on Milford, Utah for the first stop-over-for-the-night-in-Utah because it seemed to be an outstanding rock hunting area.   We must have been far sighted... for alas... there were no RV parks in Milford.   We instead ended up in Beaver, Utah.  The next morning we back-tracked to Milford looking for the prized smoky quartz rocks...  among other things.  Our rock book directed us up Pass Road which crossed over tall mountains.  We took a wrong turn but managed to witness a "cow-pede" down the road and a touch of fall in the mountains. wpe9C5.jpg (2905 bytes) wpe9C9.jpg (3383 bytes)

We finally found the smoky quartz area... but little smoky quartz.  The scenery was worth the trip.

Our next stop was a series of abandoned copper mines near Minersville, Utah, where we found many keeper rocks... and some keeper pictures of our adventure. wpeA09.jpg (10307 bytes) wpeA0A.jpg (9072 bytes) wpeA0C.jpg (6850 bytes) wpeA0D.jpg (7509 bytes) wpeA0F.jpg (7859 bytes)
The view from the mines was outstanding, and we stumbled on a small pond near the mines. wpeA0E.jpg (6054 bytes) wpeA10.jpg (4623 bytes) While in Beaver, the eight year old noticed a low tire on the back of the RV.  A stop at a service center in Beaver discovered an inside tire blown out, the outside tire with a break in the side wall, and a bulge in one of the tires on the other side.  Needless to say, we bought four new tires.  The old tires had only a few thousand miles on them.

With our new tires snuggly attached, we headed east across Utah with storm clouds gathering

We pulled off at a particularly scenic view-point on I-15 and took a lot of pictures.

Of course we had to capture a couple of flower pictures, and leave it to the four year old to observe the unusual... bet you can't guess what it is...
