After more rolling wheat field filled roads, we finally stumbled across the beginnings of the Columbia River Gorge and caught a first sight of Mt Adams, one of the snow covered peaks that dominate the Washington and Oregon skyline. wpe8AC.jpg (4481 bytes) wpe8C9.jpg (3658 bytes) wpe8C8.jpg (2349 bytes)
The next two nights were spent in the infamous Peach Beach RV Park.  The park was located on the banks of the Columbia River and was surrounded by a peach orchard, thus giving it its name.  The next morning we made a discovery trip into the back country.  We crossed a bridge into Oregon where the four-year old bagged another new state for her collection of "been-to-states".   Rock hunting was a challenge, but scenery hunting was not.

I arrived back at good old Peach Beach just in time for a sunset and a moon rise.

Our first picture-taking stop was at Sherar's Bridge that crossed the Deschutes River.  The white water upstream from the bridge was awesome.

A fish ladder had been placed along the falls to assist spawning salmon to the rivers headwaters.
