| Gillette, Wyoming was our next
"unplanned stop" on our adventure west. It was a Sunday, July 22,
shortly after high noon that we passed through Gillette, westward
bound for Buffalo, Wyoming. About 10 miles beyond the town, the RV
started missing on a long climb, and by the time we got over the top
and started down the other side, the beast died! We were on a
portion of I-90 that was under construction and had only one lane
headed west, but we coasted to a stop at an exit called Wild Horse
Creek Road.
Paul unhooked the Tracker and headed back east
toward Gillette. At the first exit, the local police had its lights
flashing helping another stalled motorist. I just joined the line,
and he helped me acquire the services of a local wrecker. We were
rescued by a purple wrecker driven by Ron Walker. He drug the beast
back to his shop and plugged us in along with three other
unfortunate stranded RV'ers.

The next morning Cheri went
shopping at K-Mart and Paul bicycled around the big city of
Gillette. The hills were big, and the head wind strong, and it
was a struggle to log 7 miles back to the RV which was being
fitted with a new fuel pump. The flowers in the town were
outstanding enough to deserve special photographic attention. |
