SEDONA, ARIZONA

We get a late start this morning.  The wires are disconnected to the water pump and we no longer have a bathroom on wheels.  It couldn't be because we have crammed a lot of rocks under the bed.  The wires just... came loose by themselves.  The man who runs the RV park fixes it for us and then we take off on our quest for Sedona, Arizona.

The driving is being done very casually.  We are trying not to hurry to reach anywhere at anytime.  Sometimes it gets a little confusing.  We lose track of time and days, especially when we are making our own time and days up.

We take some more pictures of flowers and a lot of cactus, and stop for a little nap along the way.  wpe8BE.jpg (2758 bytes) wpe8BA.jpg (3315 bytes) wpe8B8.jpg (5395 bytes) s1.jpg (2664 bytes)
There is a big lake we are passing, and we see a sign for another cliff dwellers village.  The RV won't fit on the road to it, so we stop short of the site and bag a few more rocks.  The rocks are very red in Sedona and the mountain peaks are really distinctive.  We settle down in Red Rock RV Park for the night.

When I wake up this morning, Sir Knight has gone to check with the manager to see where we have to move the RV tonight and he is also scouting the town of Sedona.  I walk down to the creek and listen to the water flow over the rocks.  I love this sound.  It is so soothing.  Two Mallard ducks fly in and land on the water; one male and one female.  They land so gracefully.  The male has a dark green iridescent band around his neck.  When they swim the female follows behind the male.  The male is the leader of the duck culture.  We take a twelve mile drive through the canyon and mountain on the world's rockiest, bumpiest road with potholes big enough to cook a moose in.

On our tour, we ventured into high country where we found snow still on the ground. s4.jpg (8046 bytes) s5.jpg (4772 bytes)
The rock formation almost makes me put Sedona on the must see list, but the town just has too many tourists and not enough roadway.  It's just not equipped to handle the traffic

We had lunch at an out-of-this-world diner.

We come back to the campground to move the RV to another place.   It is so crowded with people checking in and out that you have to play musical set-up-spots every day.  s9.jpg (9493 bytes) s10.jpg (8471 bytes)
When we make the move, a big boulder jumps out, bites the side of the RV and rips off the water and sewer lines.  s11.jpg (5842 bytes) s12.jpg (8057 bytes) Sir Knight goes on the hunt for a repair center.  He finds  one in Cottonwood, Arizona and talks one of the mechanics into coming in on Saturday to fix the broken sewer line.
