ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA VISITED... 5-17-99

wpeBF.jpg (9825 bytes)

We leave for Asheville, North Carolina around 6:00 PM. It has been a hard day so we take our time.  We stop and cat nap along the way.  We arrive at a KOA Kampground Tuesday morning.  It has a creek and a lake.  Sir Knight picks a great camping spot on the lake. wpeC9.jpg (7993 bytes) wpeC2.jpg (8784 bytes) wpeA5.jpg (6526 bytes)
wpeCC.jpg (9167 bytes) There are Canadian geese, Mallard ducks, and one white domestic duck that has heard the call of the wild.  There are also baby ducks and geese.  The Canadian geese mate for life and when they swim, the father leads the babies and they stay between while the mom brings up the rear.  The Mallard mom rears the ducklings alone.

wpeEC.jpg (7141 bytes) wpeF3.jpg (2551 bytes) We take the opportunity to do a flower hunt at the campground wpeCA.jpg (6736 bytes) wpeC5.jpg (13533 bytes)

wpeC1.jpg (9009 bytes) wpeC3.jpg (5110 bytes) After looking at the rocks by the creek we take a drive around the area then eat lunch at a barbecue restaurant.  When we return to the campground Sir Knight stops at the store and buys some worms so we can fish.   And again the eight year old catches the first and only fish.

The day ends peacefully with a close look at resin from a pine tree... and the droning drops of rain on the smooth surface of the lake.
