COWEE BALD, NORTH CAROLINA
We traveled across the National Park through Gatlinburg and on to Cherokee, NC.  We checked in to an RV park near Cherokee and made day trips from the campground.  We tried gambling at Harrah's in Cherokee, but found the slot machines boring and fixed to pay very little.  In talking with other locals, they also found little reason to indulge in gambling at the casino because its management had become too greedy.  We won't soon go back.  Our other explorations in the area were more enjoyable and chronicled as follows.  A long trek to Cowee Bald produced some great sights.

An unusual rainbow greeted us when we arrived at the top of Cowee Bald.  Instead of the curved variety, this one formed a straight line in the sky.

 We visited Coleen and Jack in Franklin, NC and toured their new house.  The view from the deck of the house is outstanding.  We picked up a few mica flaked  rocks during our visit.
