SMOKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, NORTH CAROLINA

We will head back to Nashville today, taking many pleasant memories with us.  We are returning through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Pigeon Forge.  Not more than fifteen minutes into our drive, we see a waterfall. The trees meet each other over the road and it is like driving through a natural arbor. Mountain temperature is always cooler and it is 52 degrees here. wpeEA.jpg (29422 bytes) wpeA0.jpg (11986 bytes)

I wish I could capture the depth on the camera but so far it has been illusive.  The temperature is now in the forties.  Black clouds are gathering in the sky.  As we pass an elevation of 5,000 feet.  We stop at the New Found Gap and note that the Appalachian Trail goes through here.

I'm going to have to look in a Thesaurus to come up with more words to explain what we are seeing.  Wow is being used way too much. If you could hear the sound of the WOW it wouldn't be such a simple word.  I keep telling God how gorgeous it is. I  think he already knows... we see his face in stone everywhere we turn.

We travel through Knoxville, stop along the side of the road, and have lunch.  We go to the next rest stop and take a siesta.  We are back on the road and about two hours away from Nashville.  We return to Nashville safely.  Where we have been definitely goes on our must see list.
